Aboriginal Australians Childrens School
Rebuilding the Future...
Between 45,000 and 55,000 Australian Aboriginal children were forcibly removed from their families mainly between 1910 and 1970. The trauma of this has left many without a sense of identity. They have lost that spiritual, emotional and physical connection to traditions, to culture and language. Rebuilding these lives will take a strong commitment from everyone.
Reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians is vital to Australia’s future.
At present, Aboriginal Australians die 20 years younger than non-Aboriginal Australians.
Together ‘We Can’ – make a difference!
Peace for the Children ‘Adopt a School’
300km north of Tennant Creek is the tiny outback school of Elliott with 100 Aboriginal kids officially enrolled. The teaching staff are very committed to making sure each and every child that attends receives an education, but they have very limited resources to secure this outcome..
For as little as $150 we can purchase art and craft supplies that will keep these creative young minds active. Or for $500 we can buy an array of play and sporting equipment to inspire our ‘young stars’ of the future.
Gardening for Life Project:
Can you believe that the cost of a lettuce alone in Elliott is $10! It’s incredible to think that many Aboriginal children are suffering some form of malnutrition. So let’s get active and build a garden! Sound crazy? When you think about public education, you usually don’t think about gardening. But gardens are actually a great way to bring classroom lessons to life and help improve the overall health, nutrition and academic achievement among students.
For $3,000 we can build a good sized school garden that will promote nutrition, science and agricultural education. What could be more rewarding?
Whatever you give will go a very long way
towards building a future for these kids.
Up until last year, they didn’t even own a toothbrush... now they do!
